These RuffStuff Specialties Chromoly Heims are a very high quality, “Heat and Cryogenically” Treated 4130 Chromoly Rod End!

The housing is machined from 4130 Chromoly and the Ball is made from 52100 Bearing Steel. Both are heat treated and hard chrome finished for improved strength and corrosion resistance.

The race is made from injection molded Teflon impregnated Nylon which is used between the two components to allow for smooth and precise ball movement.

This unique manufacturing process make these heim joints tougher than any other rod ends on the market! We can say it more than doubles their effective lifespan. Obviously they are priced a little more than a cheap mild steel heims… but that’s because the quality is worth it.

These rod ends are not tested to breaking point, but are tested to “first deformation point”. This is a key highlight point… deformation is NOT breaking point.

Several of the other companies making Rod Ends test to breaking point. You will stop using the heim joint after it has bent, so why even care at what point they fall into a pile of pieces on the ground. That just dosen’t make any sense to the end user.

Jam Nut

These rod ends come with Hex Jam Nuts. Right or left hand thread with 16 threads per inch.

Misalignment

Missalignment does 2 things necessary to run Rod Ends on a 3 or 4 Link Suspension.

The first and most important is allow additional room for the joint to pivot and let your suspension articulate. That comes simply from the shape of the missalignment.

The second and less important comes from a functional standpoint, but equal from the operational point of view as it serves as a spacer and reducer. This allows the use of a smaller bolt than the bore of the Heim.

Heims Terminology

Spacer Width
This is the inside measurement of the mounting point.
Bolt Size
This is the size of the bolt to be used in the mounting point.
Eye I.D
Inside measurement if the heim eye without the misalignment spacer.
Shank
The shank size is the thread needed in the arm that the heim is to be screwed into.
Tube I.D
The inside diameter of the pipe the tube adaptor is to be welded into.
Tube O.D
This is the minimum recommended outside diameter of the pipe to be used.

This Air Compressor is equipped with THERMAL OVERLOAD PROTECTOR. If the unit should shut off automatically during operation, do not attempt to restart the compressor. These Tie Rod Ends are a “Extra Heavy Duty” female style, which are easy to maintain, replaceable and are also greaseable.

The Ironman 4×4 tent is manufactured from premium-quality, waterproof and breathable, rip-stop material, and features YKK zippers and fly-screen windows. A raised climate cover flysheet helps control interior temperature, as well as reduce condensation. The lightweight, foldout, aluminum-insulated floor supports a 65mm high-density foam mattress and provides room for two to sleep comfortably. When collapsed, the rooftop tent is kept secure and protected from the elements by a rugged, 1000D water-proof PVC cover. When open the tent offers ample interior

The retractable aluminum ladder is used as a leverage point in folding out and raising the tent. With the tent raised the retractable aluminum ladder sits under cover from the elements, allowing you to pull off wet gear before climbing in to the tent. A ladder extension kit is available for lifted vehicles.

A 65mm high-density foam mattress sits atop the insulated aluminum floor. There’s easily room for two, and you could even pile in some small kids provided you don’t exceed the maximum weight capacity of your vehicle’s roof rack. Overall dimensions for the tent measure 55 inches wide by 94 inches long by 47 inches high.

The Ironman tent is supplied with window awning support rods that can be bent to the appropriate angle to provide increased coverage from the elements. A raised flysheet is also included.

The tent can be situated so that the tent entrance is at the driver or passenger side of the vehicle, or even at the rear, which is recommended for larger vehicles. When mounting the tent with the entrance to the rear you’ll need to make sure you have enough clearance for a pop-up rear hatch to open fully.

The supplied roof rack mounts for the tent simply clamp the base of the tent to the factory roof bars. The installation was very simple. This method also allows the tent to moved from one vehicle to another with minimal effort.

The Annex includes a sturdy, 1000D waterproof PVC zip-in floor and a zip-away panel that allows access in to the vehicle.

The Ironman 4×4 Instant Awning is manufactured from waterproof, breathable material that provides 100-percent UV protection. The Instant Awning secures to most vehicle roof racks and bars. Guy lines and ground stakes are included.

The Instant Awning features self-standing and extendable aluminum awning support poles. When set up the Instant Awning creates 84 by 98 inches of coverage. Optional mosquito netting is also available.

We really like the covered tent entrance and Annex as it greatly increases the functionality of the tent: it creates a sheltered entrance in to the tent and vehicle to access gear or sleeping space; it can be used as a galley or privacy area that’s out of the elements; there’s even enough room to fit a cot to create additional sheltered sleeping space.

With windows on three sides and the door opening on the fourth side the tent stays well ventilated in hotter climates. The windows can be zipped shut for colder weather camping.

The tent’s compact size when stowed won’t compromise your vehicle’s wheeling ability, but do be conscious of the fact that you have additional weight at the top of the vehicle so your center of gravity will be slightly higher than normal. It’s also a good idea to measure your vehicle height with the tent installed to ensure that you don’t enter a parking garage or other low overhang that may cause damage to the tent and/or your vehicle.

    Will this tent and awning fit on a 2006 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4×4?

      Unfortunately this will not fit the 2006 dodge ram. It requires a roof top basket mount. And we don’t have this.
